Sweaters and Sand
There aren’t a lot of places I love more than the beach. I’ve always found it calming and relaxing to sit and watch the water move. I don’t find screaming children or people tossing balls and frisbees in every direction very calming so visiting a beach when it’s busy kind of defeats that purpose. Perhaps that’s why I chose to never visit Toronto beaches during the summer and made my first visit this fall, on a rainy afternoon. I had the place all to myself… just me, the water and my camera. Lovely.
I rode my bike to the east and while it was misting slightly and windy it was also humid. My men’s sweater from H&M, worn as a dress with a light jacket, was perfect for this weather. Sitting in the sand I felt warm, relaxed and when it started to rain I just pulled up my hood. I know that they sell proper sweater dresses for women, but if you are a shorty like me then you can get away with a L or XL sweater from the men’s department. I love the cable knit pattern on this sweater, it adds just enough subtle details. I also fell in love with the colour, it’s a deep green/blue that reminds me of the sea. I paired it with tights and my docs, the perfect fall footwear.
So there I was, digging my docs in the sand and watching the waves roll over. The little bit of mist didn’t bother me, I could have sat there all day. The rain started a little harder and the sun was setting, so it was clear that it was time to go.
