The November Man(‘s coat)

Today was one of those days. You know, the ones where you just don’t feel like getting dressed. Jeans and sweatshirt is all I had the energy for. And that’s ok because, luckily, blazers exist for days like today. You can throw one on and instantly you look like you put in some effort.

This beautiful oversized grid blazer is one I found in The Black Market on Queen West. It’s a men’s vintage Ralph Lauren and once I took out the shoulder pads it was perfect. I normally wear it over something a little more fitted to balance the size of it, but today it was all I wanted to wear.

Buying men’s jackets can be tricky. I don’t have much experience buying new, so here are my tips for buying vintage. Like most vintage, you aren’t going to be able to get your size. Try going up a size or you run into the danger of not being able to close the bottom since (again) men don’t have hips. Always take out the shoulder pads, roll the sleeves and if you don’t like oversized then you are SOL.

this vintage blazer is a dream! I do love to wear men’s pieces ocassionally…and special joy is to steal them from hubbie.

Your tips at buying men’s vintage clothes are great…I think the best way is always to try what we’re buying…I sometimes buy clthes at men’s department and I seldom look at sizes at all.
