It’s in the Bag
I’ve never been a big purse person; statement bags very seldom do anything for me, and I’ve always been envious of men who can just fit everything in their pockets and go. …But i’m still a girl and sometimes I need more than my tiny pockets can manage. I love a good canvas bag; it’s casual, non-fussy looking and it doesn’t matter if it gets dirty you can just throw it in the wash. However, sometimes I want to look a little more put together. That’s where this bag comes in. It’s the perfect size, simple and holds a lot. Plus the company, Matt & Nat, construct all their products from vegan leather and recycled materials. Why would I care about that? I know this must be confusing since only the post before I am raving about how much I love my leather jacket, but let me explain.
I’ve been eating a vegan diet for over a year now and I haven’t looked back. I can’t technically call myself vegan because I still use the occasional non-vegan products; like my leather jacket (which I actually bought a few months before the switch). I changed to a plant-based diet for health reason but of course since making the switch I can’t ignore the animal rights. I’ve been more conscious of purchasing leather goods and other non-vegan items but I just haven’t quite gotten their yet, but when there is a vegan option I will always take it. Like this bag.
It’s not a surprise that sustainable material and products are becoming more and more important to people (not just myself). I love finding company’s like Matt & Nat who care as much about style as they do about the integrity of their products and the effect they might have on the planet and creatures on it. So while I’m not yet ready to give up my leather jacket just yet, they have taken me one step closer to a cruelty-free existence. Baby steps, right?
